Welcome to Shorne and Higham, two charming villages nestled in the Borough of Gravesham, in the picturesque county of Kent. These charming villages offer a perfect blend of rural tranquillity and modern amenities.

Shorne is known for its historic St. Peter and St. Paul Church, a magnificent medieval church dating back to the 13th century. The village's heritage can also be explored at Shorne Woods Country Park, where you'll find remnants of its past.

Higham has its own fascinating history, with notable landmarks like St. Mary's Church and Dickens Court, a building named after Charles Dickens, who lived in Higham and drew inspiration from the village for his writings.

WHERE

Both Shorne (DA12) and Higham (ME3) can be found in the Borough of Gravesham. The parish of Shorne is around 3 miles in extent each way, with a church in its centre. Shorne has exceptional areas of outstanding beauty containing ancient woodland and a country park boasting nearly 300 acres of woodland.

Higham can be found southwest of Gravesend and just Northwest of Strood in Medway.

GETTING AROUND

While providing a peaceful escape, Shorne and Higham are conveniently located near transportation links, Higham has its own railway Station, making commuting to London and other nearby towns easy.

Located close to the A2/M2 and A20/M20, and M25, Shorne & Higham has excellent transport links. These roads allow for travel in all directions, including London to the north and Maidstone to the south as well as Bluewater and Ebbsfleet International Station.

There are four train stations in easy reach – Meopham, Ebbsfleet International, Sole Street and Borough Green. Meopham runs services to London Victoria every 30 minutes, while Borough Green operates a direct service there every hour with a journey time of approximately 50 minutes.

Shorne Parade includes a Café, hairdressers and newsagents.

Higham Parade includes a green grocers, fish and chip shop, Chinese takeaway, post office, cafe and pharmacy.

SCHOOLS

Shorne and Higham both have their own Primary schools as well as a popular nursery:

Higham boasts Gadds Hill independent school, set in the grounds of the former family home of Charles Dickens.

The surrounding villages and Gravesend town also offer a number of schools. Cobham Primary and Vigo Primary for little ones are also both close by.

Gravesend also offers two Grammar schools for ages 11 and over (Mayfield Grammar School for girls and Gravesend Grammar School for boys), complimented by a choice of respected state and private schools too.
