A SHORT HISTORY

You can see numerous historic buildings near the village green, including the famous Meopham windmill.
Distinguished names linked with Meopham include King Charles I who reputedly stayed at the Kings Arms pub during the Civil War and Simon de Meopham (1272-1332), an early Archbishop of Canterbury, and the Tradescant family, remembered for their contribution to horticulture and the collecting of specimen trees and plants from across the world.
